I discovered this site about a week ago. The search seems to be inoperative more than operative. Haven't been able to pull up one movie since last night. You can access anything thru FTP client, but you have to know where an item is located ... and the stuff is scattered all across folders, so you really have to have a working search. Don't have a clue what to do about it, they have to get the thing running all the time.

Please understand that everyone here is doing everything they can to keep things running as smoothly as possible. There are 10s and 10s of thousands of records and thousands of gigs of data floating around. It's a lot to maintain and very time consuming.

We are aware of the search engine problems and are trying to resolve them as quick as possible.

Thanks for your patience.

NO worries amigo! Been using the site for a long time. The positives DEFINITELY outweight the negatives. As a matter of fact, this downtime gives me a chance to listen to some of the newer stuff I have downloaded.

Thanks for the great service,

Pete

Hi,

Our engineers are working on rearchitecting the search engine to alleviate this problem - it just can't handle the load of requests it's getting right now - so hopefully in a few weeks the problem will be alleviated.

In the mean time, I would suggest using Google or another search engine to search the archive. Add "site:archive.org" (without the quotes) to your search query on Google and it will search only our site.

I know that's not a perfect solution, particularly for brand new material, but for the next few weeks it will probably be more reliable than our own search engine.

Thanks,

Alexis - IA
